eLitmus and AMCAT Tips:

These tests are Computer Adaptive Tests so it's important to understand how does it work.

Computer Adaptive Test:
Your score is not equal to the number of questions answered correctly as is the case in any other test.  As the test is adaptive, it automatically becomes easy or tough according to your performance in questions.
At the start of the test, you are presented with a test question of average difficulty. If you answer this right, the next question will be more difficult. But if you answer this
wrong, you get an easier question and so on. It is very important to understand that the questions right at the beginning affect your score more than those towards the end. These are the questions that are used to measure your general ability and you are accordingly presented with a question set. Once you have progressed into a test, it is very tough to raise your level and get a better score. So take your time and answer the first few questions to the best of your ability.

These test typically have these 3 sections so we will discuss them one by one.
Quantitative ability:
1. First start by revising the basic concepts.
2. Secondly work on problem solving and accuracy part. You should aim to solve almost every problem you come across. It is acceptable even if you take longer time for some problems. Try to solve all categories of questions for each chapter.
3. Thirdly work on Speed factor. Once you become good in problem solving with good accuracy, you should start working on solving the problems in time –efficient manner. After solving each problem, analyze whether any redundant steps can be removed/trick can be applied to solve problem quickly.

Logical Reasoning and DI:
There is no direct formula and tricks for this section. It requires organizing your mind and thinking step by step for every possible case in the given problem. For solving any problem, think of different scenarios and once reached at solution, analyze and review it as much as possible.

Logical Reasoning problems usually contain several statements so always try to solve the problem in a methodical fashion and solve step-by-step. Otherwise trying to look at all the information at once will lead to confusion and misinterpretation. So it is important to note down all the information in a systematic manner and draw diagrams/figures if required.

DI is usually the calculation intensive. It has graphs, charts and tables from which you will have to  analyse data. The important thing here is to quickly identify the key pieces
of data that you require to work on the questions asked.

Verbal Ability:
This section broadly has four types of questions:
1. Reading comprehension
2. Grammar/Sentence Correction
3. English Usage and Vocabulary
4. Paragraph Jumbling
To improve your grammar, develop ability in functional usage of words, idioms and phrases. This can be achieved by going through any good book that gives a summary of the rules of grammar. For RC passages, lots of reading and practice is the key. Among the various passages, you need to select those passages which will be easier for you to answer. The ratio of the length of the passages and the number of questions is another important factor. Developing good reading habit will help you in building vocab and good grammar.
